Think of hardwood flooring, and images of rough-hewn planks or precious herringbone are sure to spring to mind. To challenge that status quo, the Jamie Beckwith Collection has introduced the Enigma series of formats ranging from tile shapes, more commonly associated with ceramic or stone, to unusually ornamental strips. The 14 patterns are produced in walnut and quarter-sawn or plain white oak, all stained in one of six water-based, no-VOC colors and applied to a substrate of nine-ply Baltic birch.

Stella was inspired by a starry sky. Another celestial reference is Crescent, though it resembles more of an hourglass. In Lotus, fanlike blossoms taper into slender stems. A dark circle punctuates square Dice. And the undulating strips of Wave come in five lengths. Lead times are short, custom orders a cinch.
